We live on a relatively busy residential corner – hearing emergency sirens is not unusual, especially as there are two fire departments and one police station within just a mile or two away in different directions, and we are only a mile away from I-20.
Every time I hear a siren, I affirm YES and BLESS! HELP is on the way. Get ready for some acronyms deluxe!
Texas state law regarding yielding to emergency vehicles states you must pull over as far to the right side of the road as you can https://codes.findlaw.com/tx/transportation-code/transp-sect-545-156/ to allow them free and speedy passage to get to wherever they are going. That is the required YES … Yield to Emergency Services. I unfortunately have often experienced drivers who, for whatever reason, do not respond accordingly, and I feel angry at their apathy toward the urgency of whatever it is that EMS, fire, and/or law enforcement are responding to, and I need to reframe that negative energy into something more beneficial to all.
So…I begin to BLESS! I Breathe Love into Emergency Services Situations
Somewhere there are people, a family, – children perhaps – who need immediate aid in some way and helpers who are responding. Those wonderful professionals who are coming to help – put out a fire, save a life, remove a public safety threat among so many other potential emergencies- need to be there as quickly as possible. Our job is to get out of the way, YES and BLESS!
We BLESS the emergency responders in their work, their readiness to serve – affirming their skill and expertise, their compassion, their willingness to be present in difficult and sometimes dangerous situations. We bless those needing help, affirming the presence of Spirit, holding sacred space around their circumstances, be they physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, being open to the possibility of good, praying best outcomes. When we Breathe Love into Emergency Services Situations, we are affirming the presence of God as ever-present love.
Next – HELP is on the way! Healing Energy of Love and Prayer
We are most likely not able to be of much service in the actual physical situation that is occurring, but by wrapping all affected by emergency situations in God’s Love and Light through affirmative prayer sends out a healing energy of higher consciousness that ripples out to benefit anyone involved. A short affirmation such as “God is present, supporting each person in this emergency,” can be very helpful.
There are times in my life when “spiritual sirens” go off in my head , letting me know there is a dispruption in my inner peace, my balance. Maybe I am feeling angry about something that has happened, or I feel wronged by someone. Perhaps I am giving myself messages of not being enough, focusing on perceived limitations or lack in various areas of my life, physically, socially, mentally, emotionally, financially, spiritually.
Perhaps it is when I feel frustrated with Doug, knowing that he is doing the best he can do, and still just so tired of answering the same questions over and over, or repeatedly having to remind him to do simple tasks, one step at a time. I often then feel guilty about my impatience, or I let anxiety that his decline is worsening at an increased pace go unchecked, or I fear he’ll forget who I am, or that I’ll no longer be able to care for him in the best way possible at home. These can get to “5-alarm spiritual sirens!!”
These “soul sirens” can also benefit by YES, and BLESS, and HELP, albeit with a spiritual twist.
YES – Yield to Eternal Spirit. When I consciously release control, when I am able to relinquish my concerns to God’s care and keeping, I realize that relying solely on my own strength is not serving my good. I am more easily able to accept “what is” with faith and trust, knowing Divine Order is in action. This acknowledgement and surrender brings peace as I am able to detach from the outcome, and just do my best at the moment, whatever that is. I can then stay open to the limitless potential of the Divine.
BLESS – I am Bathed in the Loving Energy of Sacred Spirit. Remembering that God is always present in my life, that I am a beloved child of God brings me to an even higher level of peace, of knowing my oneness with God. The Unity Prayer for Protection reminds me: The Light of God surrounds me, the Love of God enfolds me, the Power of God protects me, and the Presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is! Blessed indeed.
I am better able then to HELP myself through the Healing Energy of Loving Prayer, lifting me with positive affirmations to support spiritual clarity, anchoring me to faith and trusting that all is well, quieting my anxieties, keeping me centered on good.
I breathe in peace, I breath out calmness. I breathe in love, I send it out to the world. God is my source, substance and supply. I have all I need and more. Divine Wisdom guides me n all my decision-making. I am blessed and grateful! Thank you, God.
